MinIO

MinIO is an open-source object storage solution that runs on premises or in the cloud. Its designed to be fast and compatible to Amazon S3. For large deployments, MioIO can be more cost effective than commercial object stores like S3, GCS, and Azure Blob. Key features to be aware of:

  • Open Source: You can customize MinIO

  • High Performance: It can out-perform commercial offerings and handle huge workloads.

  • Cost Effective: Its can be cheaper to run, especially for large-scale deployments, compared to the commercial variants like AWS S3, Google GCS, etc…

  • Flexible: MinIO can be deployed on-premises, in cloud, or hybrid. You can run it self-deployed with your team, or pay for it as a service.

To deploy MinIO on premises you will need:

  • Network engineer(s) with high-speed network and Linux experience

  • High speed network equipment, typically in the 10 GbE or greater realm
